'3D Digital Free Hand Modeling'
Nancy Diniz MSc Thesis
Bartlett School UCL 2003

Thesis Project funded by ISCTE, Lisbon

The project describes a method for direct freehand drawing of complex three-dimensional surfaces by moving two fingers in space. The system tracks the movement of two lights in space using two webcams. The lights (LED's) are attached to the user's fingers who watches the surfaces being drawn on a laptop or a projection screen.
The user can drawn any surface that can be described by the movement in space of a line of varying length, in any direction. The shapes can be exported to a CAD sotware for later edition.
The fundamental aims of the research were:

1. Non intrusiveness of the drawing input and visualization devices
2. Wireless free hand drawing in space
3. Exporting capabilities of the geometry to CAD software packages
